Both diving trips and wildlife watching trips are more than just a vacation. We understand that these experiences are very special moments in many people's lives, because they often aim to make a dream come true, to have a unique encounter, to experience moments that may be irrelevant to others but that have become a passion for nature lovers. These feelings, which we have always shared, have naturally led us to create Última Frontera. The place where your travel plans can be transformed into a unique experience.
The beginnings
In the 80s, recreational diving was a niche activity, something only a few enthusiasts attempted with very limited resources. This made it nearly impossible to find travel agencies that organized diving trips, let alone one specializing in the subject. These difficulties, coupled with a desire to explore the world's oceans, led us to enter the world of travel organization quite by chance. Initially, we collaborated as freelancers with a specialized agency in Paris, and shortly after, we developed programs with national agencies. Then, in 1992, with a fully professional approach, we launched Spain's first specialized diving travel program. The "Window Buceo" brand was a turning point in the offerings of this type of trip, helping not only Spanish divers to easily travel and dive around the world, but also bringing certain destinations to the attention of the diving community.
These were intense years, involving a great deal of research and training of divers, but the results were astonishing. The number of people attracted by the opportunity to travel and dive multiplied, and specialized dive centers and resorts began to consider the Spanish market. But the century was drawing to a close, and the huge market demand demanded that we once again set a milestone in the world of this type of travel. In 2000, we founded Última Frontera, the first travel agency in Spain 100% specialized in diving trips.
Last Frontier today
From its inception to the present day, Charo Gertrúdix and Felipe Barrio have continued with their unique and distinctive way of operating, exploring every corner of the planet in search of the best diving spots and the most professional and environmentally friendly operators. This personal experience on the ground has allowed us to have deep control over our products and personalized attention to our clients, always based on our own experiences.
This meticulous approach, combined with our extensive experience in the diving market, has led numerous tourism offices, embassies, and other international organizations, as well as major companies in the world of dive tourism, to choose Última Frontera to promote and showcase their destinations and products to the diving community. All this outreach and training work, recognized with various international awards, has also allowed us to undertake research projects, resulting in expeditions to explore new dive routes in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Papua New Guinea. All of this has resulted in a portfolio of over 300 underwater experience programs in the best locations with top professionals.
And today, we continue to explore and advance, in a sustainable way, to be a pioneer and benchmark in diving travel, not only in Spain but internationally.

Decades of travel and expeditions have provided a wealth of experiences of all kinds, both underwater and on land, from remote coastlines and islands to deserts, impenetrable jungles, and icy mountains. Many years have passed during which we have lived with tribes and learned about very different cultures and the most striking wildlife of each continent. All of this has generated, almost without realizing it, an exciting catalog of land-based experiences that, although we have been organizing them for many years, have not yet given them the prominence they deserve.
After more than 25 years exploring seas and oceans, Última Frontera also offers you the opportunity to explore the most captivating corners of our world for terrestrial wildlife observation, following the same philosophy we've maintained for underwater wildlife. With a high degree of specialization and a diverse catalog of offerings, you can discover more than 40 countries, where we've developed nearly 100 different programs, all of which you'll find in our Land Experiences . Of course, we continue to develop underwater expeditions led by our Explorer Club and the new Focus product line, where we offer the most exciting groups for nature photographers, also led by top specialists.
